It’s that time of year again, students all over the country are preparing to head back to uni OR they are leaving home for the first time to live on their own with a bunch of strangers. When meeting new people I always think food or cooking a meal is the perfect ice breaker, we all have to eat right?
It’s one of the things we all have in common wherever you're from and whatever your background we need food! For those of you with children or family members who are heading off to uni this September I have compiled a handy stationery essentials guide that will equip students to plan ahead with their meals and save money by wasting less food.
The meal planner notepad is perfect to bring together a house share of students, not only does it allow them to plan out their meals and budget and shop accordingly they can also use it as a cooking rota. This is bound to save so many discussions over who’s turn it is to cook or what we are having tonight. The only thing left for them to sort out is who is doing the washing up.
Right the meal plan is sorted now time for the new students to head to the local supermarket! Equip them with a shopping list notepad laid out in sections to make it easier for them to navigate those aisles for the first time and not forget any key ingredients.
The best way to make friends is to feed them but the prospect of cooking for more than two people can be a little daunting if you haven’t done it before. To keep on top of timings and to make sure no roast potatoes are burned in the process make a cooking schedule using my notepad and stick to it.
This handy little notepad is the perfect size to leave on a coffee table for important notes to your housemates such as - ‘dinner in the oven’ or ‘we’ve gone the pub’. I know we all have whatsapp but there is something lovely about a handwritten scribble that I’m not ready to lose from the world yet.
Send your student off with a stash of notecards, envelopes and stamps so they have no excuse not to write home or send a little note to you when they are feeling homesick. My fruity notecards sets are perfect for this, they are blank which makes them versatile for any occasion - a birthday wish, thanks for bank transfer or just to say I miss you.
I hope you've found this useful. I'd love to know what you think of my blog posts, you can email me on email@example.com or DM me on instagram @ink_and_spoon
